The Role: Video Editor

At Virtually Expert, we connect businesses with highly skilled remote professionals who deliver exceptional results. We're currently building our network of talented Video Editors to support a variety of client projects across different industries.

We're looking for a reliable and creative Video Editor to join us on a project-by-project basis. You'll transform raw footage into polished, engaging videos that align with each client's vision and brand.

Projects may include social media content, promotional videos, advertisements, corporate videos, educational content, interviews, testimonials, YouTube videos, and other digital media.

Since every project is unique, we're seeking someone who is adaptable, organized, and capable of working across different editing styles and formats.

Key Responsibilities 

• Edit raw footage into polished, high-quality videos

• Organize and assemble clips into compelling stories with strong pacing

• Add transitions, titles, captions, lower thirds, graphics, animations, music, and sound effects when needed

• Perform basic color correction, color grading, and audio enhancement

• Ensure videos meet client branding and creative guidelines

• Incorporate revisions based on client or team feedback

• Export videos in various formats and resolutions for multiple platforms

• Maintain organized project files and assets

• Deliver projects on schedule while maintaining high-quality standards

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Video Editor or similar creative role

• Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of editing styles

• Excellent storytelling, pacing, and visual composition skills

• Strong attention to detail and quality

• Ability to understand creative briefs and execute them effectively

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Technical Skills 

Experience with one or more of the following:

• Adobe Premiere Pro

• Adobe After Effects (preferred but not required)

• DaVinci Resolve

• Final Cut Pro

• CapCut

• Other professional video editing software

Additional experience with motion graphics, animation, sound design, or visual effects is a plus.

Portfolio Requirement 

A portfolio is required.

Please include examples of previous work that demonstrate:

• Storytelling and pacing

• Editing quality

• Motion graphics or text animation

• Captioning and graphics

• Audio editing

• Overall production quality

Applications without a portfolio or work samples may not be considered.

Compensation 

This is a project-based freelance position.

Compensation will vary depending on the complexity, duration, and scope of each project.

• Strong written and spoken English

• Proven organizational, administrative, and strategic skills

• Comfortable using standard productivity tools and learning new software quickly

• Reliable computer or laptop (Intel i5 8th Gen+, Ryzen 5 3000+, or Mac Core i5 2017+, 8GB RAM minimum)

• Stable internet (30 Mbps minimum)
